Blackwood
Fire recognises that being kind to the environment
is not just restricted to the householder, but affects
everybody including industry and commerce. Blackwood
Fire has been in the business of Fire Protection
for the past 21 years, supplying and maintaining
Fire Extinguishers for all South Wales and the West
Country. The maintenance side of the business does
unavoidably generate considerable waste e.g. Powder,
Foam, Halon, Metals, Plastics and Cardboard.
We
realise that there is a potential threat to the
environment if the waste is not disposed of correctly,
so in 1999 we embarked on a Programme to be (we
believe) the first Fire Protection company in Wales
possibly the U.K to meet the requirements of the
standard. On the 20th March 2000 we were awarded
the BS EN 150 14001: 1996 certificate for Environmental
Management and Protection. Now all waste is disposed
of under stringent control processes and where possible
waste is recycled.
We
believe that to maintain our position in the Fire
Protection Industry we must continue to search out
new and cost effective procedures and methods to
offer to you, our customer, the very best service
available, and by attaining this award demonstrates
our commitment to you and the environment we all
share.
